Import POP3 folder to IMAP server
« on: December 12, 2000, 04:35:37 PM »
Hi there

I have recently configure Outlook express to access e-smith as an IMAP server. How do I import all my local folders to the IMAP server? I have the same problem on a PC using Netscape??

I have no experience with Outlook, but what you should be trying to do is to create new IMAP folders, and drag'n'drop the contents of the local folder to the new IMAP folder of the same name.

You should be aware that some versions of Outlook have an imperfect implementation of IMAP.

Yes that is what I did but what happens if a users has 500 folders ??? Must I sit and manually transfer each one???

I don't really want to use Outlook but it is the most commonly used mail client on desktop so ..... What mail client do you recommend (free if possible)?

I'm told that you can program Windows apps using Visual Basic or somesuch. But I don't do Windows.

I use pine, and I've heard that mutt is very good. But presumably you want a recommendation for a Windows program. Sorry, I can't help you there.
