cannot see e-smith-server on Network
« on: December 16, 2000, 07:37:57 AM »
I have a mixture of win95, win98, win ME and Win2000 PC's on my Windows network (just using Windows Workgroup) and the only one that can see the e-smith-server is the win98 pc, I would really like the Me and 2K PC also to be able to see the e-smith-server.
All of the win PC's can see each other in the workgroup, and the e-smith box has the same workgroup name !!  any idea's would be appreciated ..

Is the e-smith the domain controller? If so- are you utilizing the DHCP server? . If using DHCP reboot the "blind" machines and check the IP configuration. If manually setting the IPs make sure the IP range and the subnet mask are correct. I followed the manuals suggestion of getting one machine to see the e-smith then cofiguring from there by duplicating the settings. The easiest way is to use DHCP, workgroup=e-smith.
