Is this feature planned for the 4.1 release?

(I can't find the settings anywhere in the 4.1b3)

No. The tape backup for 4.1 is a full system backup.

You can always use taper to perform selective backup/restores.  Note however that 4.1B3 has the wrong version installed.  Download the correct version from ftp://ftp.e-smith.com/pub/e-smith/dev/e-smith-4.1beta3/updates/taper-6.9b-3.i386.rpm and perform the following command:  rpm -e taper-6.9b-3 to remove the incorrect version and rpm -Uvh taper-6.9b-3.i386.rpm to install the correct version.
