HI?
Yve tried to install webmin on e-smith..; and the setup would complete as it doesnt recognise the distrib...
Has anyone ever tried this?? or is it any way to fool the install script, i mean  is there any way to make it know its based on RH70.

Thanks

Do not use webmin with your e-smith server. webmin and the e-smith-manager are two incompatable ways of automating the setup of configuration files. Anything you configure using webmin may interfere with the correct operation of your server, and any changes you make with webmin may be undone when you next use the e-smith-manager.

Similar comments apply to linuxconf.

I installed it on e-smith 4.01, which works fine and is identyfied as RH6.1.
I then used the upgrade-function to install 4.1b3 and my webmin (0.83) is
still working. (although it reports that it runs on RH6.1). Remember If you do
systemchanges thru webmin they might be undone the next time you
use the console or the e-smith-manager. I use it to do changes to my
custom-templates, execute the expand-template function and remote
start / stop of services.

you can obviously do alot more with webmin than just change system settings! The file manager is great! Just watch out what you change!

Installing on a fresh esmith4.1 is easy. just uninstall the esmith-release rpm, install the redhat7-release rpm, install webmin, then reverse the release rpm if you wish. You need to have the correct release for upgrading webmin or esmith of course
