Topic: Cryptic DHCP error message

I share a cable connection from Charter/Earthlink using e-smith server.  

One morning, the connection stopped working so I look at the e-smith server and I saw this message kept scrooling by rapidly over and over:

dhcpd[302]: dhcp STop: ioctl SIOCSIFFLAGS: Bad file descriptor

dhcpd[302]: termination on signal 11

I was able to fix the problem by restarting dhcpd but I am wondering what the error message meant.
