unable to receive email from outside LAN

After upgrading to e-smith 4.1.1 from 4.01, we have been unable to receive email to our domain from the outside world (so to speak), but can email just fine within our LAN.

As an experiment, I tried sending email directly to our static IP - larry@[63.169.81.40] (this used to work in 4.0).  This is what I got back:

:
63.169.81.40 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 551 Sorry pc-00001.northskyhomes.com(192.168.1.1), I don't
allow unauthorized relaying. Please use another SMTP host to mail from
to
Giving up on 63.169.81.40.

I could see why this *might* be a relay issue, but I'm very unclear as to why we're not able to accept email from the outside world.

Anyone else have this problem when upgrading to 4.1.1 from 4.0?

What form does "unable to receive mail" take? I have just sent mail to admin@northskyhomes.com, and it hasn't bounced yet.

Your problem probably lies with your DNS. Your mail is currently accepted by both your e-smith box, and the MX provided by your DNS provider. What more could you want?

Yes, we have that noted as a bug, but since it is not an advertised feature we haven't marked it as "urgent".

I had the same problem when I set up E-Smith.

We are using Zoneedit as our DNS, and I had mistakenly used those DNS addresses where the configuration asks for the DNS addresses that our ISP
provided.

That caused mail to xyz@yahoo.com to bounce, with a message much like you showed.  It bounced and said that relaying was denied.  I fixed the DNS addresses and everything has been working great since.

I'd double check your DNS entries in the E-Smith configuration.
