Dial Control

Has anyone ever installed one of the ‘connectd’ applications in place of ‘diald’ - or ‘dialdremote’ to control the beast.

The reason I ask is my network, in common with a myriad of small businesses round these parts (Scotland), shares a single dial-up line with all the other telephone activity. For that reason gateway activity has to be strictly curtailed to user requests and scheduled activity.

E-mail is also a problem due to BT network congestion at certain times of the day we need to schedule it to specific times rather than periods of time.

I came up with the above apps on a web search and wondered if they could be used, as their claims seem to fit the bill.

Thanks in anticipation

I have installed Stephen Noble's e-smith-isp-0.1-7.noarch which can be found at ftp://ftp.e-smith.net/pub/e-smith/contrib/RPMindex/e-smith-isp.html.

This works well with e-smith 4.1.1

This allows full control of the dialup connection as being able to set connect and disconnect times, also a manual start
