CVS on an e-smith server?
« on: May 11, 2001, 09:14:01 PM »
Has anyone installed CVS on an e-smith server?

I'd like to use my e-smith server as a source repository and I'd like to use CVS (http://cvshome.org/). Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks...Andrew

I did JUST on Wednesday. No problems.

I have been playing around with  http://theexchangeproject.com and they have CVS updates nightly and it works great with esmith

Hi

I've downloaded the cvs.rpm from cvshome for i686. Installed it no problem and done the console-save afterwards.

However, I cannot access the sourcefoge cvs with timeout problems.

I wonder if I have to do anything else after installing the rpm? Did I install it correctly and indeed is it the right rpm to get for eSmith? I have looked at the contributed rpm's but there is nothing for cvs there.

The installation was done by

   rpm -ivh rpmname.rpm
   /sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save

appreciate replies to this

I installed the CVS rpm for the cvs client, but when I try to checkout a module from a remote site, it complains that it can't create /CVS. Any ideas what to do? I tried to create the directory, but it still complained. Also, how do I make it checkout the files to a different local directory?

Thanks

I've installed a "fresh" cvs-1.11-3.rpm no problems, BUT when I try to login to the CVS server to checkout modules, the login is refused:

  cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.post-nuke.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/post-nuke login

I do get:

  CVS password:

for which I just press Enter as instructed, but then I get:

cvs [login aborted]: recv() from server cvs.post-nuke.sourceforge.net: EOF

I've looked at the FAQs in cvshome.org, but couldn't see an answer to the above error.

Anyone, anyone?
