Mailer-Daemon Problem
« on: November 11, 2000, 07:38:57 PM »
I've got my e-smith server & gateway working nicely. Every so often when I send an e-mail though it is returned with a mailer-daemon problem (listed below). Does anyone have any thoughts as to what is causing this.

Thanks,
Chris Vaughn

PS: I can send the emails when I use my dsl email account.

The error below shows the problem, but I think it is more subtle than
it may appear.

[...]
   <1pelonero@cleanweb.net >:
     Sorry, I couldn't find any host named cleanweb.net?. (#5.1.2)
[...]

There are two weird things here
   - the space between .net and the right angle bracket
   -  the question mark near the end of the second line

I believe there is a bad character in your address book entry. I would
suggest deleting the address and retyping it.

Your DSL email account is either using a different address book or
is stripping this illegal character before asking the mail system
to deliver it.
