Topic: VPN Problems (Win 98)

When my Win98 box connects to the E-Smith Server I get disconnected.

1. 128bit encryption is installed on the Win98 box.
2. It does authenticate me (user account) and connects me, but then 2secs later it disconnects me from the server.
3. I have 10 PPTP slots open in the E-Smith manager.

On the Win98 box, I have tried logging into MS Networks as user:password and also by clicking cancel and being forced to log into MS Networks.

It's really starting to bug me... what is going on?

Have you checked the message log located in /var/log/messages. This would have the clue to why the connection is being refused. If you can't work it out try posting the relevant section of your message log and maybe someone can help you out.

Sounds very similar to problems I had. If so, then it is to do with not having the 128bit encryption version of DUN13. I managed to upgrade for W95 and can now get a VPN connection. I have had no luck in getting the relevant upgrade for W98.

I had the exact same problem.  After I installed DUN 1.4 for Win98SE it started connecting.  Checkout http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q285/1/89.asp for the correct version of DUN 1.4.
