I have a Cisco AS5200 hooked up to an e-smith server. Actually, I have it hooked up to a toy (hawking) router which works, but when there is more that 20 or so users it bogs down really bad. Anyway, I configure the cisco to use address 192.168.10.32 thru 192.168.10.81 (49 IPs) and have the e-smith set to dhcp x.x.x.200 - 250.
The Hawking allows the cisco to assign an address from its pool to the caller. I unplug the Hawking, plug in e-smith, and bang. The next user can't get an assigned address, goes no-where, and hangs up (kinda unhappy, too...)
What is the problem? Any clues? If a toy can do it, why can't e-smith?

( My other Ciscos use routable addresses, but I was trying to conserve address space by using non-routable addresses for the dial-ins. If I can get to work properly, I'll put 'em all (except for some gamers) on NRs.) -jw
