I have three differnt machine running 98 in the office.  Cypheus is crashing on all three system.  Has anyone else had this problem.  Also I can receive faxes all day long, but if I try to look at them under Cypheus it crashes, and I am yet to be able to send a fax out.

There seem to be lots of instructons on setting up your hylafax server but nothing about how to use it.  I have hylafax running.  It even accepts faxes, though I dont konw how to look at them.  And for some strange reason I cant send faxes.
I am really need some help this my third day of trying to get this to work.

We offer a commercially supported version of Hylafax in our Groupware bundle.  You can visit http://netsourced.com/e-smith and select the 'Software Solutions' link for details.

BTW we looked at Cypheus and found as you have that it is problematic.  We use the Windows Hylfax Client (WHFC).

I have got half the work done I am useing whfc with kodakimg to view the faxes.
I can accept fax and look at them it is great, but I really need to be able to send them out.  Here is a question what kinds of modem are everyone useing that have e-smith working.  I have a Aopen external fax modem and U.S robotics 33.6 external fax modem both will recieve fax, but niether will send.
Thanks

I do notice that when I start the hylafax under init.d it start two things : faxq and
hfaxd -i hylafax.   When I try to fax it starts another hfaxd -i hylafax.  If kill it hylafax stop working.  I cant even restart the service it is just died.  Hoping this extra give some one an idea on what is wrong.

I am using a netcomm simplicity 56 K modem with hylafax on an e-smith server.
(Cheap modem, I was happily suprised)

Absolutly no problems sending or recieving. I did not have to touch the modem configuration settings.

I couldnt get it to work with my us robotics so that sits on the firewall.

We are using cypheus running on 98 and 2000. Aside from some initial problems it runs without any problems (I tried whfc but found it to be lacking in features by comparison to cypheus and had too many problems with it).

My only suggestion for your faxing if you are having problems with sending is set the modem up as a class one modem (the netcomm will run under both settings)

I will admit that i spent along time working out the issues and i know from that experience how you must feel.

Sorry i couldnt be more help

Well finally.  I fixed my hylafax server.  Faxq was hanging up not the modems.  I erased /var/spool/fax and /usr/share/fax and then rpm --force -Uvh hylafax-rpm and reset everything up from scratch.  I dont know what the problem was but I had to differnt machines do this and it solved the problem on both of them.
