Topic: Content Management Software with e-smith?

I'd like to be able to allow my 'clients' to edit their own content via a web-based system that does not require them to know any (or much) HTML. And it needs to be free.

Has anybody setup anything like this on an e-smith box?

I'm working on the exact same thing.

I've tried a lot of CMS systems (it also needs to be free for me) and so far I like PHPNuke the most (www.phpnuke.org). I've read some comments that this one is a bit buggy and insecure, but those comments are all related to version 4.x. I've tried the new version 5 yesterday and really liked it.

It's easy to customize and all. I've got a few other ones lying around but I can't test those until I got .JSP files working on my server.

Hope this helps and I welcome all further comments on CMS systems as I'm also still searching.

Thanks for the response.I too have tried PHPNUKE. It is easy to install under e-smith and is very feature rich.
I plan to use it for a news site.
But it's not really suitable for users who want to maintain their own site that's not a new site.
I did find one that looks like it would be perfect, but it does not install under e-smith. http://ibm.digiconcept.net/netautor.basic/

I've planned to test phpCMS somewhen next week, also then main
website is in german they translated the docs to english, maybe
this is what you are after.

I installed Zope and it runs perfect on a e-smith box. You can redirect the virtual apache hosts to zope.

The Zope binary includes Python and installs automatically on your e-smith. Zope is a very comprehensive cms.

Thanks for the responses.
I installed Empower 2001 last night. It was an easy install and it seems to work with no problems. It's a little simplistic, but I think it will serve my needs if I can't find something better.

I'd forgotten about Zope (I guess I'm a dope).
I played with it a couple of years ago. I'll have to install it and give it another test drive.

Did you test phpCMS already on your e-smith server? If yes, is it working well and went the installation smooth? If so, could you write a short howto on installing and using phpCMS with e-smith? That would be very helpfull
