Throughput Rating for e-smith

Hi All,

I am trying to find out what the throughput rating for the e-smith (current build) gateway is.

I have a 10Mb ATM link and have been experimenting with the e-smith gateway. I can only get around 100K/sec download from the internet (from sites that  I can get over 1Mb/sec via other gateway appliances on our 10Mb link. This is with the config 'out of the box' after install. I have not altered any ipchains rules or anything else on the e-smith server at this stage.

I am looking at only using e-smith in this situation as a firewall...so would you recommend disabling all other services on the e-smith machine??

Is it possible to permanantly disable services, or will they come up again after reboot?

The specs on the pc I have e-smith installed are:

e-smith (current build)
Celeron 500MHz
128Mb RAM
10Gb HDD
2 x 10/100Mb NICS (realtek 8139, 3com 905x)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards

Ryan

You can use the e-smith-service-control to stop and start services and dictate which ones start at boot time.
