Hylafax--Attached PDF Mail delivery
« on: June 24, 2001, 02:11:09 AM »
Hi, I installed Hylafax with minor problems on e-smith, but it's up and running
fine now with the standard settings ( sending an e-mail with the ftp-link to the received tiff-image).
I'd like to setup hylafax now to convert the received fax to pdf and attach it
to an e-mail. The howto mention to replace one file create another new and
( this is where my question is about ) it needs metamail to be installed.
Could I just download the rh7 rpm of metamail and install it or do I have to
install some other rpm first ?? As I don't have a spare PC to test, I could
test it only on our production server which I'd like to avoid.

Any help is very appreciated.

Hi Jochen,

As you mention you are using HylaFAX on a production server, you may wish to look at my HylaFAX solution, which includes the PDF functionality you are requesting and support.  Let me know where you are located and I will have a participating e-smith partner contact you.  Please reply to sales@netsourced.com.

Regards,

Darrell

Well, I'm not a company. What I mean with production-server is, that it is
THE gateway for our family to the internet. If I mess it up I'm in serious
trouble with my wife and my son. ;-))
Sorry but if your offered solution is more than $100, I can also buy a bunch
of Winfax 9 licences which are offered for $10 and set up these in
Client/Server mode.

I done it on a production 4.1rc5 e-smith server and its working nearly out of the box. (Note: I used the metamail rpm from rpm.find.net for RedHat 6.2) Had to adjust only /usr/local/bin/ps2pdf in faxrcvd and TOADDR=fax-grp so that I can add/remove the users who receives the .pdf attachments through the e-smith manager. If you like to see a converted fax, fax a message to +49 561 8046224 :-)
