Topic: Netmeeting and e-smith-ipportfw-0.1.1-1noarch.rpm

HI I have an e-smith.4.1.1 box on a dialup my father also has one on a dialup. Before installing the rpm when we tried to have netmeeting calls it kept saying it was waiting for a response from 192.168.0.66 or 192.168.10.65 (our internal addresses) depending on who invited the other from msn messenger. So I installed the portfw rpm on my machine and setup forwarding for TCP ports, 1503;1720;1731 to my ip (192.168.10.65) this however has not worked.

in /var/log/messages i get

masq_h323_done1
masq-h323: h245 status (0=unregistered, 1=registered) =0

I then installed it on his e-smith box and he gets the same messages in his /var/log/messages.

Now we both get no response whatsoever.

I would use the VPN option except that all I get from that is : Error 751 :the remote computer refused the connection please try again blah blah blah. I have installed the dun1.4 with the 128bit encryption on 2 machines on my network and 1 on his and neither of us can connect to each other. Neither of us get any messages in /var/log/messages after trying the vpn connection.

I have updated both e-smith with the new base rpm as per ..updates/4.1.2/4.1.1_updates

I have noticed an ip_masq_vpn rpm on the ftp.e-smith.org site should I install this aswell.

If anyone has any ideas I am open to suggestions , I really need to be able to talk to him while I am on line.

This worked for me.

Make sure you have 128bit VPN update (live update) if it does not show up (because it has already been installed) go into the installed section (not sure exactly what it is called but the hyperlink is on the same page) re-install it, as installing other modules over top can change files (ie5 etc)

Then under DUN, SETTINGS, CONNECTIONS, SECURITY TAB make sure you have require secure connections ticked (or something like that, the middle one)

If all other config is right this should work, worked for me
