My ISP charges for the first 4 minutes of a call, and then in units of 6 seconds (I think).
I have therefore modified my diald.filter to include
impulse 235,0,0
To my horror, anfter a day or so, I found that diald was not closing the line for up to, and over, half an hour.
In the secure log, I found auth calls from an external IP address, which looked suspicious. I tried to run tcpdump, to find out what was happenning, but this is missing from my e-smith. So is cc, so I can't install it.
Can anyone advise me
a) what might be hapenning
b) how to get tcpdump running
c) how to find out what is happening
d) any other advice
At present, I'm just turning diald on and off as and when I require it, which rather defeats the object of the dusty box in the corner.
