Topic: SFTP/SSH protocol 2 still not functioning properly

Hello

I want to control to my server via my own pc. I have read that the E-smith server supports SSH protocol 1 and 2. I have done the update found on the ftp site of e-smith bit it didn't help. I still can't reach my server via sftp. Does anyone know anything about this?

you don't mention whether or not you have enabled
Remote Access:
Secure shell (ssh) access:  No access | Private | Public  
Allow administrative command line access over ssh:  no |yes  
Allow ssh access using standard passwords: :  no | yes  

If you haven't made these active, then you can't connect. If you have, check that the ports you are trying to access are matching your desired values from these previous settings. If you try to access the public port, but it's disabled you wilobviously not connect. Try the private (internal) port instead...

Sory that I forgot to tell all the facts. I have enabled remote access. I can connect with my server via ssh, which (for all i know is using SSH protocol1), but when I want to connect via Sftp. I get the message: "Failed to open a secure file transfer session". I think the problem is with SSH protocol2.

have you allowed SSH2 as per the FAQ http://www.e-smith.org/faq.php3#8q21

Thanks, that did the trick. But what is the difference with the update I did, found on: ftp://ftp.e-smith.com/pub/e-smith/updates/4.1.2/RPMS/noarch/ ?

I think the update fixes a bug in that version of OpenSSH, whilst the FAQ is just about turning on protocol 2 (why this is NOT the default, I don't know).

Hope al lis going well with your e-smith experiences. I'm more than happy with it.

Even after all...
when i make :

/etc/init.d/sshd restart

I have this message :

Starting sshd:/etc/ssh/sshd_config line 15: garbage at end of line; "/etc/ssh/ss

PLEASE HELPME!
