I am succesfully putting 400+ cds (using cdex available at download.com) on my e-smith server and connecting a computer to my intercom/radio system throughout the house.  I can literally play all of my cds at random without using the cds.  They take about 12GB of space is all and is a great way to preserve my cds.  Many kudos to Linco ln D. Stein!

Yup, the jukebox works great. I just can;t listen to my songs across the internet from work. I haven;t registered my domain name. E-smith adds a 'www' infront of my domain name (which is my IP address).

Hey Al!

Visit www.dns2go.com and signup for a domain name like alsmp3.d2g.com,
download the client software, create a virtual domain with the name you chose at dns2go and use the ibay containing the jukebox as its content.

Good luck!

I went and registered with Dns2go. This looks to be just what I'm looking for. Thanks. I am having problems getting it set up on my e-smith box (4.1.2). I followed J. Scott Smith's mini how to. My problems are detailed at
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=2285.msg7666#msg7666

I can't configure the dynamic DNS accound in e-smith's console.

Al, I just posted a comment on that other thread.

What are you running as a client?
It is a whole lot easier to just setup the dns2go software on your client machine and set it up to use the current IP address.

It may be that the installation on the server is better, but in the short term, my way works just fine.

Hello.
I'm using win 98 bmachines behind my esmith box. I can download the windows client for dns2go, but then wouldn't all of the web and mail requests go to my client machine instead of my e-smith machine? Alos, The e-smith machine is the only machine that will be running 24/7.

How does dns2go work installed off of a client?

No.  What the client software does is to point the domain name you setup in your e-smith manager (Virtual Domains) to the IP address of your server.

And, you only need to to turn on your Win98 client once every 60 days to keep it going.  They will notify you via e-mail at 45 days of inactivity and 60 days.
Just be sure to keep a copy of the e-mail they send you with the original key for each domain name.

I have several setup on my e-smith server.

Cheers!
