What version of browser are you using?

It will not stream from any browser less than v.5

I had the same problem using media player, so for fun I opened up lynx and saved the info from the stream link(too see what was going on) and in the info saved was a http://www....., however I can't access my server over the web if the www prefix is there.  I didn't put it in.  Too make a long short I think it might have to do with the settings for apache.

I couldn't get streaming to work with Sonique as the default MP3 player but it works fine now I'm using Winamp on both WinME and Win2K boxes, My SUSE Linux box doesn't play it but it may not be set up right yet.

I also found that I needed to use winamp as the MP3 player.

I've had this problem. The problem is that, upon installation, e-smith adds the www prefix to your domain name. When installing I just used my IP address as the domain name (to cheap to spend $35 to regist mydomain.com). So when someone outside the network tries to get a stream, that computer opens winamp/media player and that program looks for www.216.43.xxx.xxx.
I have scoured the boards looking for a way to not have www added to the e-smith setting.

Does anyone know a way around this without spending $35 a year?

Al - if they just enter the ip address it will work.
The www, ftp, etc default hostnames cannot be removed and as
the dns is only local it has no effect on external requests to the
ip.  It wouldn't make any difference internally for that matter.

I have just imnstalled sme 5.0 and run the blades updates.  When I try to stream from the MP3 jukebox I get a message that comes up with Media player 7 "the server recieved invalid data from the client on the control section" .  I thought it might have been my player so I reinstalled it and added the bonus pack and the latest codec with no luck.  I am also using the version 5 of IE 128 bit. Does anyone have a cure for this?  Thank you in advance for your help

Hi,

I had the same problem, for me the problem was solved by removing the www. in the alias field of the apache config file. Restart the server and done! Have fun with listening.

Location and name of the file: /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

Try this!!! Please let me know if it works for you!

Good Luck!

I am having the same problem streaming. I don't have a domain, just internal network. even if I try to access it internally (\xxx.xxx.xxx.\music). I can fetch however. Any clues?

Thanks
