I recently had to reprogram a cisco 675 dsl router for a client using an e-smith server 4.1.2. The router cbos had been damaged by the code red virus.  Qwest, the dsl provider reccomended changing the web port to something other than 80. any port beginning at 1025 was suggested. There in lies the problem. e-smith uses port 80. I can see the reasoning with regard to port 80 because code red probes port 80 looking for IIS installations.  Now the question. Has anyone developed a "how to " to reassign the e-smith web port? Or is there any project in progress that would allow custom selection of web ports. Being able to have variable ports would certainly make it more difficult for worms and other viruses looking for a home.

Why do you need to change the e-smith box?  It's the Cisco that was downed; change the port for the web management interface (don't just disable it) and you should be OK.

To change the port for Apache, you'll need to make custom templates for httpd.conf.
