I have essg 4.1.1 on permanent dialup, both server & modem are on UPS. My WinME PC is also left on permanently, but no UPS. On two occassions recently, I have discovered my workstation has restarted, and when I login, it cannot see the essg. Tried pinging 192.168.1.1 but no response. I have restarted the PC, and even tried on my 2nd PC (also WinME), both PC's can ping each other, and a network printer, but not the essg.
The essg appears to be operating correctly. I am able to login as root & admin, and the dialup is still connected. On both occassions, I ended up choosing 'reboot' but both times the essg 'hung' when shutting down "mysqld". Eventually I had to restart the essg server, and everything works fine again, including connection from the WinME PC's.
I have put a copy of /var/log/messages on my server if anybody is willing to help me. I do not know enough to interpret the information in this file, to see if anything malicious is going on. The file is 199K text file located at
http://www.shields.net.au/messages.txtThe only alterations to my essg is the inclusion of 'awstats', 'webcalendar', 'ssh webconsole access' all from HowTo's. All of these have been on for more than 2 months, and I have made no alterations to essg configuration in the past 2 months, so I don't believe the problem is related to these "extras".
Any help is greatly appreciated.........
