PPTP - VPN out connection?
« on: January 06, 2001, 01:17:54 AM »
Just installed 4.1beta2 and was hoping it would allow me to connect to a VPN server across the internet using PPTP through my e-smith server.  I know 4.0 wouldn't support this, but thought I read 4.1 did.  Until now I've been using FREESCO to successfully do this, but would really like to get back to e-smith and its many easy to use features.

Is this feature availible in 4.1beta2, if not, are there work-arounds?

I do not know if it is in 4.1, I thin i red that 4.1 has a pptp server in it, so you can connect to thew e-smith with pptp. That is something different. I think you would need a masquarade module for pptp to work through e-smith, as freesco has. You could add it of course, but you would probably also need to alter the firewall rules?

It is my understanding that 4.1 will support VPN incoming only in its initial release.  Outgoing support will come later.  More information should be available on the next beta release as the development team has been hard at work.  From reading your posts you may be better suited posting on the Experienced User Forum and/or joining the devinfo mailing list.
