new ideas but.... no enough brain to develop!

I was thinking about a few ideas that could be interesting to develop,
ovbiously I'm not an expert at all so I just have ideas and time to learn!

I thought It could be possible to make a "reinstallation cd" routine that could create an iso image that can be burned to a cd.
this could be more complete than a reinstallation disk (so some people is having troubles with diskette size) and could store more things like blades or updated rpms maybe is a fool idea, but ....
As SME v5 hardware spec. target to a kind of mainboards capable of booting from cd it could be more effective to boot from there.
Thinking  in a mixed way... it could be that just the config file could be stored in the diskette and everything else is on cd , so the installation will require just reinstallation data and will free lilo and boot info space on disk.
Another question that has been on my mind is the chance of a cd backup, a cd writer drive serverside, maybe with a cdrw media at the server it could be possible for small servers to keep up to 700 mb of data (recent or modified data) daily backed up instead of massive tape backup (not very cheap) and instead of slow desktop backup.
Ale.

I am planning on writting a script to backup to an FTP site. It wouldn't be to far from that to put it to an ISO image and then burn it to a CD. I will look into it when I am writing my backup script and let you know what turns out.
Thank you,
