hi
i want to use a e-smith box inside a class B network as a developpement box.
i have never use e-smith in server only mode if i made that type of install will the user be able to connect to samba and apache on the same interface ? what about 2 nic connected to the same network on 2 different ip's ? i want my student to be able to log into e-smith with samba when they are on campus and to acess web page and ftp from outside any help will be greatly apreciated.

The class of your network is not so significant as the security
of the network you are placing the e-smith server on.  In
server-only mode the e-smith server should not be on a publicly
accessable network address. ie it should be on a private net
behind a firewall.

If in server  only mode only one IP is permitted because by
definition it connects to only one network. Exceptions to this
are possible but not desirable.
There is no problem with connecting to the e-smith server to both
its Samba shares and its webserver Apache - they are different
services.  Provided of course the pcs wanting access to the web and samba
services are on the same internal network.
