I have just installed SME ver 5.

This is a fresh install with the latest blade update. I have made no modifications to the system. It has been set up exactly the same way as my previous version 4 box (setting for setting).

We use multipop to collect our mail (8 mail adresses). This worked fine on the old system. It doesnt seem to work at all now.

Running ./startmail or ./fetchmail goes without problem and just as a test i made up a fictitious mail server name. It complained that it couldnt find it.I have even tried the mail servers ip address with no joy.

Looking thru the logs i am getting invalid username and password errors with my isp. If i use my old mail server, no problems.

The only difference i see now is originally it would say
No mail for username at xxxx.xxxx.com.au
Now it says
Authorization failure on username@xxxx.xxxx.com.au

I have no dns problems as i can do nslookups and can send mail out.

I am wondering if the newer version of fetchmail might have some problems with my isp (doubt it though)

Any clues

Regards Duncan

As seen in a previous post i added --auth password to my fetchmail script.

It now seems to work but i would like to know if this is an acceptable solution to my problem.

Seems not as now all incoming mail just goes to the postmaster and then to me.
