I wouldlike to TRY adding the Redhat RPM's that would enable me to compile PHP. Could one of the experts on this forum please tell me which RPM's from Redhat I would need to install in order to do this please.

Thanks,

If you are still certain that you would like to have the ability to compile and make packages directly on your e-smith server and gateway, you'll need to install the RedHat 7.0 rpms listed below. They can be downloaded from any RedHat mirror site.

cpp
glibc-devel
glib-devel
make
libstdc++-devel
gcc
gcc-c++
kernel-headers

good luck !

Thank you for the prompt response, I really appreciate it. Is SME5 based on RedHat 7.0 or 7.1? I am under the impression it is 7.1, allthought I have heard from others it is 7.0.

Could someone clarify this definitively please. Thanks.

Which version of the Linux kernel is used by SME Server 5.0?
Mitel Networks SME Server 5.0 is based on the popular Red Hat Linux Version 7.1, which we have modified to exclude unnecessary software packages, and replace others with more secure alternatives. Red Hat Linux Version 7.1 and SME Server 5.0 both use the 2.2.19-7kernel.

You can determine Kernel version information by issuing the command

   uname -r

at the command prompt.

not a e-smith expert, just read the faq ;-) , everything you always wanted to know about e-smith but were always afraid to ask ;-D
