Problems with AMD Athlon ?
« on: October 29, 2001, 12:20:14 AM »
Hello,

Last week I've rebuild my server with a new mainboard and processor, my old system was a pentium 2/350 and now it's running on a Athlon 900.
Now there's a strange thing happening, when want to leave the server console to go to the prompt I type after the text login:admin and my pasword of course.
But after typing my password the server automaticly comes back into the server console ????
This is happening both in version 4.12 and 5.00 so is ir possible that the processor is to fast, when I try to connect with Telnet or Putty the same thing happens, this problem didn't occur on the Pentium 2/350.

Looking forward to your reply,

Best regards.

Hi Pauls,

I'm using a athlon with no problems.

I think it has something to do with your installation. I had this once before, and it was because of a faulty configuation. Maybe you shoul try:

/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-install

So your server gets everything in order again.

Let us know.

Paul,

If I understood you correctly, you are trying to login using the username "admin" ? If you do that, you will automatically go back into the console.

To get to the command prompt, you need to login with the username "root" and not "admin".

Thanks guys, it works.

I had to do this because I want flexbackup to perform an full erase of my tape before making a full backup, so I had to change the configuration of flexbackup.
I really forgotten how to login, shame on me.

Once again thanks
