Samba: WinNT 4.0 Domain Logon Problem
« on: November 04, 2001, 04:15:47 PM »
Hi All,

I upgraded Samba on my SME 5up2 Box, and tried to join the Domain with a

WinNT 4.0 SP6a Box which worked. After rebooting the Client I could not logon

to the Domain. All I get is a popup Window, saying "Could no logon to Domain,

no Domain Controller available". Does anybody now where I can look for error

messages or what the problem could be ??

Richard

Since you have not gotten a response, I'll give you some information I foundout during a recent install.  NT4 remembers exactly who it was connected to.  So when you replace the server, which the upgrade might do, then NT thinks that it is seeing a new server not the old one.  The only way I have found to clear cached information in NT is to remove the network card driver, reboot then reinstall the network settings.  All the user settings should remain just the server information will be blitzed.  Back-up stuff before you do this just in case.  Use at your own risk.
