Topic: Excessive disk activity with Sowftare RAID

I am using an Intel Server Motherboard with integrated Adaptec 7896 scsi controller and two IBM 18Gb scsi drives.

When SMEServer 5 is configured for software raid the hard drives are constantly working even when the system is idle.
 
Is this normal or where should I look to find a solution.

There was a similar posting a 1 or 2 months ago. The answer was hat the software raid took a very long time (after installation) for the HD's to het in 'sync'.

Did you perform a fresh or new install so it ould be the HD's want to get in sync?

It's not only software RAID.  Hardware RAID suffers from the same problem.  The drives have to sync.
