Does anyone have experience with the openNMS Network Monitor Sytem on e-smtih 4.1.2. I would like to install it to evaluate the product. The problem arises when the openNMS installer checks the OS type for the system. The installer does not reconize 'linux-i386-redhat-4'.
OpenNMS is capatible and tested on Redhat 7.0 (recommended platform).
My question is why does e-smith report this OS type? Is there a way to change it so the openNMS installer recognizes the distribution as Redhat 7.0 so the installer can continue. I am not aware of how/where the os type information is advertised.
I have already emailed openNMS to determine if they can add the e-smith distribution to thier installer to properly recognize the OS type. I do know they need to be able to uniquely identify the OS type in some manner to add it to the installers supported platforms list. Is there any information that can be used to uniquely identify the distribution that I could provide to openNMS. OS type above would not appear to be suffucient.
