Topic: how the e-smith overrids system conf files?

Hi!
I just spent a half day in finding out how the e-smith templates work. But I only got some fragments:
(Here is my understaning,in running order)
1. init calls rc7.d (e-smith-service) in the beginning.
2. the keys & valus are extracted from master configuration.
3. all config files(expanded from e-smith templates) for individual daemon were processed.
Who can share me more (detail and clear) on this? it will really appreciated.
And..
Per system instruction, all templates (config files) will be overrided by the settings in /templates-custom/ whenever the server restarted. I just want to know in which step this happens, which file and process involved?
