Scan for open ports
« on: December 01, 2001, 03:56:03 AM »
I have just run a PHP script which checks for open ports on my SMEV5. The output was:

port 25 opened
port 53 opened
port 80 opened
port 110 opened
port 113 opened
port 139 opened
port 143 opened
port 389 opened
port 443 opened
port 515 opened
port 548 opened
port 980 opened
port 981 opened
port 3128 opened
port 3306 opened
number of open ports: 15

Can someone please comment if there is a security problem here. I have recently enabled the MP3 blade. Thanks Alec

If you ran this scan from inside your LAN, it's nothing to be worried about.

go to grc.com and run Shields up. It says it is for Windows but I have gotten convincing results using it.  It takes about 10-15 secs and don't worry about the IP agent it is not needed usually.  Remember though unless you are running SME as a Private server and Gateway some ports are open.
