How-to: open port
« on: December 12, 2001, 04:14:26 AM »
How are you gentlemen.

I'm attempting to use port 9110 on a client machine on my e-smith network. However, in order to do so, I need to do a little IP forwarding magic. Simple enough, and I typed out:
ipmasqadm autofw -A -v -r udp 9110 -h www.xxx.yyy.zzz
where www.xxx.yyy.zzz is the IP address of the local machine (a non-routable IP address leased to it by the e-smith server).

I get an error that claims that port is illegal.

How do I open a port in e-smith and forward that port to my client machine?

TIA,
quade

Install my portforwarding contrib add on package. Instructions for use are included in the output of "rpm -ivp xxxx.noarch.rpm" (where "xxxx" is the name of the package, which I forget just now).

Any ideas where this port forwarding RPM can be found? The link from the HOWTO page doesn't work.

Thanks
