Following is the error:

Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 83edf5a8

then down a bit it says:

Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill the idle task
In swapper task - not synching


Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have my rescue disk, but i get the same error whether from the rescue disk or not. I tried typing linux rescue in at the lilo prompt from the rescue disck, but it does the same thing.

More notes on this issue....

nothing has been changed on this server as far as hardware is concerned. I had some trouble with the latest update from e-smith, and in the past 5 days the awstats module has stopped working (just noticed this last night). We load tested the server on saturday, and it did have a hard time restarting httpd, however we did get it back up and running and the server has been serving just fine since then.

Any help would be appreciated as I have got all of the PostNuke Documentation Project housed here and do not want to be offline, but then again, who ever does want to have a server down

ok here is the fix... remove the RAM and put it back in. reboot. voila!

damn! What a fix!
