E-MAIL Forwarding problems
« on: December 19, 2001, 05:09:20 AM »
All i'm trying to do is forward e-mail from a user account to another account as well.

I'm running E-SMITH 4.1.2 and I am experiencing problems forwarding e-mail from an internal account to an external e-mail address (my blackberry).

Basically all I want to do is have an e-mail come to and address ooohh..lets say Chris@test.com and foward that e-mail to my Blackberry chris@mobile.rogers.com.

I've enabled forwarding in the user account and specified the e-mail address but the server seems to only be sending me e-mail when it feels like it.

Any help would be appreciated

Try another account... Maybe it's rogers fault?  The delay could be due to traffic.

I suggest monitoring maillog when you send a mail message to see what is happening. You should be able to see if the server is actually forwarding you mail or not. If it is, then the problem is somewhere else (perhaps your ISP ?).

I have also read somewhere that the qmail default is to hold and retry send mail if it does not go for some reason for up to 30 days before giving up and sending you a failure message. Maybe your "missing" mail could be there too.

Thanks Guy's you can all have a beer.  I solved it.  It turns out my ISP changes their DNS servers and didn't tell me.

Dooh!
