External IP is Wrong
« on: January 13, 2002, 04:43:33 AM »
Hi there. Someone already asked this question, but there was no reply, so I'm asking again.

I installed E-Smith 5 the other day and my external IP was 192.168.65.17 and my gateway was 192.168.65.1. I messed around with it a little, but since my server is urgently needed, I just went back to (a fresh installation) 4.1.2 where it was fine before, except now it's the same thing in that version: External IP 192.168.65.17 and gateway 192.168.65.1. You cannot get in from outside now. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Have you tried reversing the cables in your two ethernet adapters?

Yes. I've actually fixed it. It seems the network card I was using for my external IP was causing the problem. It was strange though. I was getting a connection to the internet and everything, but as I mentioned, it wasn't assigning a proper external IP. Once I switched the network card, it was fine...
