Topic: tcpdump and ntop

Hi all,

I hope someone can help me with this, I am running e-smith 5 and using tcpdump with ntop to monitor the amount of internet traffic i am doing. The problem i have is i start tcpdump with the following

tcpdump -w /log/dump_date '+%A-%d-%B-%Y'

and then ntop with

ntop -f /log/dump_Friday-18-January-2002 -w 3000

but the information seems to be incorrect, as i can start tcpdump then ntop and it will say i have done 5g then a minute later i have done 20g. can someone help as i think it is just reading the log file wrong or what i need to do to make this work propperly ?
