Topic: installatiion of v5 on Compaq Proliant ML330 G2

this compaq server has a hardware ATA/IDE RAID controller, no matter what i have tried, when i try to install SME (or any linux distro for that matter) it doesn't recognize that any hard drive exists

is it because the RAID controller isn't supported? or can someone point me to some help to get this to work?

the SmartStart CD that comes with the server has an option to install linux under the manual config, but that didn't work either

i am going to have to plug one of the drive into the motherboard IDE if i can't get the hardware RAID controller to work

On the download page from the compaq site, you have the oportunity to download drivers.
These drivers work fine with ML370

Yes.

Try version 5.1.2, released today.

Using SME 5.1.2 on this machine install OK using the on-board ATA RAID controller.

I am trying to determine a method for supervising the RAID set to be advised if there is a problem.

But to date I have not been able to find a generic program for monitoring this. I have found some information about the Compaq supplied Insight Manager which appears that it should do the job.

Has anyone else taken a look at this problem?
