using windows nt as a print/domain server
i know it is possible for when you install a printer that it automatically installs the drivers located on the server for you so you don't need to select what kind of printer it is and where the drivers are located

how can i do this with SME v5.1

im using a hp560c printer and the computers i use it with are win98/win98se/winme/win2k/winxp

Hi,

The How-To section at http://www.e-smith.org can be very informative....

Keep in mind, I haven't looked at that HOWTO under version 5.1.2; I don't know if they've implemented something like that by default.  It should be worth a look, though.

It's now set up by default in 5.1.2.

No, no. If you are using 5.1.2 then what you do is log in to your client machine using ADMIN. Then go to network neighborhood and find the server you have the printer loaded on. Then when you open the server you should see a folder called "Printers and Faxes" (Do not click on the printer it's self)

Open the P&F folder and you should see your printer in there. Right click on it and go to properties. When the properties screen opens you should see a sharing tab. Click on that and you will see the option "Additional Drivers"  You just need to have a 95 disk etc to upload your drivers and you should be good!
