Topic: missing libcrypto.so.2

hi,
I am trying to install snmp agent (for using mrtg) with ucd-snmp on e-smith 4.12 and 5.x. However, when trying to install rpm misses libcrypto.so.2. This is part of open-ssl, which is installed. But libcrypto is not?

Can i just install lastest rpm of open-ssl or will this break things?

As fa as I know it does'nt break anything for it's not used with a standard install of SME.

OpenSSL is used by mod_ssl, which provides https services for Apache.  Don't know what (if anything) an upgrade would do.

I just installed snmp on a couple of machines after upgrading to SME 5.1.2 and I thought it only took the ucd-snmp*-4.2.3-1.7.1.3 rpms from the RedHat errata page for 7.1.  Maybe you have the ones for 7.2.   Don't forget that after the install you have to make the link to make it start in runlevel 7.

I came across this myself recently when trying to install curl. The reason is as suggested by Mike, the rpm I was trying to install was a RH 7.2 version and I needed a RH 7.1 version instead. Once I tracked down the right version, the install went OK.

I just took the rpm's from the net-snmp site. Will try the ones for redhat, but then for version 6.2, since I am using esmith 4.12

rpm for redhat 7.1 does not work either. Says it needs libcrypt.so.1. I am wondering now if I have 4.12. Where can I see this (without booting?).

Hi HC,

I think you'll find that ESSG 4.1.2 is closer to RH 6.2 than RH 7.x (ie. any drivers you use must be from RH 6.2 as they are based on the same kernels).

damn! downloaded ucd-snmp for redhat 6.2. version 4.1.1-2. installing gives missing libbz2.so.1. Which is a library for bzip2. This is installed: version 1.0.1-3. While redhat 6.2 has bzip2 version 0.95d
