I need a i-bay called admin.

The client's core business runs via contact management software which uses OLE to store links to documents on //servername/admin.

I thought (hoped?) OLE stored the link as :\path\file but it's linked as UNCsharename\path\file and the share is called admin.

The 3rd party win32 software apparently has no way to change these links, which I guess is fair enough.

So, how can I change the admin username to something else?  I would imagine that this would take some significant messing about.

It may be simpler to alter the permissions on the admin SMB share but this is not very "elegant".

Failing these, can anyone suggest a similar product to e-smith without a pre-packaged admin user?

What a headache!!!!

Greetings!
I would suggest you have a look at an old Corellinux release version 1 or at the REDMOND LINUX release, these have excellent samba configs, failing that i would much around with the share permissions as you suggest

hope this helps
