Port Scan at GRC.com Am I safe?

I just ran a port scan against my sme5.1.2 using the port probe webpage at GRC.com and it says that port 113 IDENT is open . what is this used for and does it need to be open.

If anyone has anyidea i would be keen to hear.

also it says that port 5000 for universal plug and play is closed not stealthed any ideas ??

If you search around GRC it will tell you what IDENT is and why it would bo open. Also it wont be open all the time. Nothing to worry about.

Ident is just used to identify your ip and your name to different servers, especially on irc or other chat programs.  Sometimes you can get away with closing it on Irc but most of the time you will get banned if you dont have one.Duncan wrote:
