Topic: optus@home dhcp

optus@home dhcp just doesn't seem to authenticate
i think i've tried just about everything:
configuring it in numerous diffrent ways, dhcpcd maually, switching network cards

still no luck

my network cards are:
Realtek 8139 - LAN
SMC 1211TX - Cable (Supplied with optus@home)

has anyone had this problem and resolved it or may be able to help me?

Lets state some obvious things here.

The DHCP setting you use is
DHCP with Account Name.

The account name you send is in CO300xxxx-a
format.
[There are some that say you don't need an account number
but I am not certain that is true (perhaps it was for a time).]

I am using both cards you list above with E-Smith with no problems
with Optus@Home.

mine is not in that format?

both cards have worked for lans and optus@home on other pc's. They are both in the compatability list in manual.

fixed...

after installing win2k client to share the net
i still couldn't get it working

i finally just thought of the last thing i would do since i was in a last thingy to do situation

i reset the modem

and it worked!
