Hi,

I was wondering would it be possible to let my students have write permission
to an ibay say and then have that appended to the web site address ie

www.mydom.com/userspace

Or any other way you can think of to let them practice uploading .htm files via an FTP client and be able to see the pages in their web browser ?

Many Thanks !

the easiest method with no changes is
ftp to their own directory eg h:\test_ftp
and view with the browser to
h:\testftp ->
file://localhost/h:/testftp

I thought we were talking about SME???
By my knowledge SME does NOT have a h: (or whatever) drive!

I don't know the right answer for Graham, but this definately doesn't look like it.

no, graham asked about ftp and viewing the result in a bowser :-)

not that i recommend ftp
http://www4.tpgi.com.au/users/dungog/sme/howto/weex.html

Summary: non Interactive FTP on a SMEserver/client
How to upload and maintain one or more web site to a remote server or servers as a background process.

For students I just need to show how to make simple .html and how to use an FTP client (say WSFTP)

So typing  \server\username\ into their browser is ok !

Thanks !
