domain problems 5.1.2 & W2K
« on: April 23, 2002, 09:20:37 PM »
I just setup a new install of 5.1.2, updated with most recent blades. Internet access is fine. One workstation running Windows ME works fine and can access data ibay. Other workstation is Windows 2000. It was able to join the workgroup. Then it stoped working, I think it may have been after I installed the most recent blades. Now I can't access the ibays from the WS. The message "List of servers for this workgroup not currently available" appears when attempting to find server using Network Neighborhood. TIA

I have had a simaler problem. I ended up joing a different Workgroup, then rejoinging the original. Be sure and check your local user access privs in win2k.

I have two win2k clients (mine and my wifes), one XP pro client (my kids), a RedHat 7.2 GameServer.

I have all of them in the same workgroup, and all can access the SME server the way that is should.

I dont know if you have or not, but I would suggest updating your win2k client(s) to SP2 and getting all updates for it you can. Maybe that would help?

In my Local Area Connection Properties, I have....
-Client for Microsoft Networks
-File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
-NetBEUI (old habit for playing LAN games)
-Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

I personally never had to play with privleges on my clients but it does sound like a good idea. Microsoft is full of strange little problems that seem to happen only to certain people, you have to work ass backwords sometimes to get it to go forward.
