Sounds like the DHCP server has run out of IP addresses, so the last client (PC) to be switched on gets left in the cold.

Try running the SME setup wizard from the system console (2. Configure the server). Make sure the DHCP address range covers enough IP addresses for all your client machines plus a bit. By default it seems to select ranges 65 to 250 (e.g. 192.168.1.65 to 192.168.1.250) which should be enough for most small sites. However, your DHCP settings may be set for a smaller range.

No, thats not correct.

My personal pc got the first ip in the range and renewed it correctly(winipcfg).
I am not 100% sure of the first part, but it said something about ip-s. The strangest thing - why is it not echoed in any log files? It does display it on the screen, but not in log files! I have had this only once on sme 5.1.2, but on 4.1.1. ( on another box) i had it once every 24 hours?? on 4.1.1 there were 2 ip-s more than used, and in sme 8 ip-s more.

The system shutdown sequence is displayed to the console and not to any log file, so it does happen, though not very helpful to know.

How wide can you make the gap between the number of IPs you believe are needed (no more than one per machine, I would think) and the number of IPs available for SME to allocate? Does it make a difference if you have a bigger pool of IPs available?

It could be Windows playing silly games with the DHCP server and not releasing IPs when it should.

This is just guesswork though, and you may have already asked those questions yourself.
