Topic: port forwarding

Hi all,

I have been having some trouble with getting the port forwading rpm at http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/portforwarding-0.0.1/ working.

I am a networking guru, but a bit of a newbie when it comes to linux.  What are the steps that need to be followed to get this rpm installed.

Responses like yours are a waste of time.  If you don't have anything of value to add to the post - don't respond.  Your posts don't leave a good feeling by those people who are seeking to share advice and get answers to questions...and in the long run just end up turning people off.  Next time - try keeping the wise cracks to yourselves.  Thanks.

As usual, someone misses the point entirely...

What ports do you want to forward and why? The server is designed the way it is to provide a reasonable amount of security in the stock configuration. If you monkey with it, you run the risk of compromising this security. If you simply forward a port, you are allowing stuff to run through transparently unless you put some rules on it.

This is why you need to know why you want to port forward and make sure it is for the right reason.

He didn't ask somebody to critque his security practices, he simply asked  about an rpm he was having problems with.

It's real nice of you to be looking out for your fellow users, it would even be nicer if you'd actually answer their questions.
