Wireless Dlink DWL-520 PCI

Hi
I have been attempting to get my dlink dwl-520 wirless pci adapter to work as my external card for internet access. I have downloaded and installed the dev-tools rpms so that I can compile the drivers. I have also downloaded the linux-wlan-ng files . The docs for the linux-wlan-ng said that I had to have atleast run make config for my kernel in order to build the files. Since I am attempting to compile the prism2_pci driver the pcmcia sources are not neccessary , when I run make config in the kernel src directory do I need to change anything from the default ?

I ran it without changing any answers and then ran make all and make install in the linux-wlan-ng directory and everything seemed to go ok. The docs said to add some info to the rc.local file - Is this required for sme ? What would be the correct procedure to start this card and have sme recognize it once I have build the files ?

If any one could help I would really appreciate it.
Basically i cant figure out if I need all the pcmcia stuff , and everydoc refers to it since most wireless cards are pcmcia .

??
