samba problems with SME 5.1.2
« on: May 13, 2002, 08:07:10 AM »
We have recently upgraded from SME 5.0 to SME 5.1.2. We are now having intermittent problems with NT clients (all on SP6) recieveing the "A Domain Controller for your domain could not contacted. You have been logged on using cached information......blah blah". I recently ntly received this message on my own box and found that the log, for my NT4 (SP6) box, contained the following :-

[2002/05/13 11:41:19, 0] rpc_server/srv_netlog.c:api_net_sam_logon(208)
  api_net_sam_logon: Failed to marshall NET_R_SAM_LOGON.
[2002/05/13 11:41:19, 0] rpc_server/srv_pipe.c:api_rpcTNP(1204)
  api_rpcTNP: api_netlog_rpc: NET_SAMLOGON failed.
[2002/05/13 11:44:57, 0] lib/util_sock.c:matchname(955)
  host name/name mismatch: pc-00126 != pc-00126.melbourne.caa.org.au
[2002/05/13 11:44:57, 0] lib/util_sock.c:get_socket_name(1008)
  Matchname failed on pc-00126 192.168.2.126

At 11:41 I got the Domain Controller message then shut down my box and logged on successfully the second time at 11:44. I suspect this problem is related to Tom Carrols message on the 03-08-02. Can anyone shed any light on this one. Is it possible to get rid of Domain Controller problem and "clean up" the samba logs.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Rob
